I mean, is it really fair to all the other antique dealers if I choose 1 dealer that I think goes above and beyond the rest? If I choose 1 dealer who I think has better inventory, exceptional displays, and more agreeable prices for their goods? And what if I were to mention that this dealer is so friendly and approachable that she is surely the nicest person on the block? Well… I really shouldn’t name names… I mean, after all, it’s not fair to the others! Right?

In fact, really I feel I owe it to my readers to give a mighty drum-roll and announce this Diva-scovery with fanfare!

What:
Judith Miller (of the Miller Antique series fame) highlights Neeltje Twiss Antiques when she writes about The Hague saying , “This family-run business specializes in modern antiques. They also have furniture from the 18th C and earlier stylish objects d’art from the 1920’s.”

The first time I met Patricia Twiss in the shop Neeltje Twiss, she was artfully creating a display in the back room. As my friends and I wandered into her shop from a rainy day, she greeted us with a warm smile, “Get inside out from that rain!” She waved her arms around, indicating a few of the items in the store , “We’re rearranging the story today, but look what we’ve done in the back!” and with that she swept us into store to admire a gorgeous display. She greeted us with such warmth and personality that I knew I wanted to give this woman business – because The Antiques Diva’s first and foremost rule in shopping is to only support vendors I like! Of course, then I saw the inventory and was thrilled that she was so nice because her inventory was so gorgeous I might have had to break my rule otherwise!

Each time you visit, the inventory is rearranged in inventive ways with seasonal displays, unique pairings that excite the eye.

to 10px; WIDTH: 296px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center” alt=”” src=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kcTb8DnPVW4/S3Qh0HLuPKI/AAAAAAAAEOA/kko2JT1NnlQ/s400/neeltjetwiss12.jpg” border=”0″ />to 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center” alt=”” src=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_kcTb8DnPVW4/S3Qh0utM8JI/AAAAAAAAEOQ/h2c2VBLBjHI/s400/neeltjetwiss14.jpg” border=”0″ />Of course, then there is the inventory itself. The eponymously named shop takes on the style of “THE” Neeltje Twiss, who travels, buying inventory that is downright divine. Sometimes these are simple pieces, other times they are pieces with shine. Regardless of the patina, we’re talking about pieces that would look perfect in almost any home – pieces that would be a focal point, causing everyone to pause and ask, “Wherever did you find that? It’s amazing!”

And if you’re like me, you’ll roll out the drums and banners – and say with fanfare,

“I got it at Neeltje Twiss Art, Antiques & Interiors in The Hague!”
