  1. Nice post! I would like to have a room in this hotel for me and my wife. I think the price is good enough and not so expensive:) This year we are going to Las Vegas, but we still did not decide nothing about 2011. I will add A New Salzburg Hotel to our list:) Thanks for the post.

  2. This might just be the most exclusive hotel in the world… I still can’t find information on how to book there!!!

It sounds like a wonderful trip with your sisters!! Should you get reservations – let us know how you did it and any other good tips post trip you have!!

  3. PLEASE tell me when you find out how to book a night at the hotel. My sisters and I are planning a “girls only” Sound of Music trip to Austria next year and I would LOVE to surprise them by getting reservations for this hotel. Unfortunately, there’s no information on the hotel besides what the newspapers said.

  4. Excellent information La Reine! I hadn’t read any of this — only praise to the hotel – nothing of the local protests! I did however tell a good Austrian girl friend about this “movie site” hotel going up near her home town and she said, “What is ‘Sound of Music’?”

I must admit, protests or not, I’m still first in line for making a booking as soon as they put information on the internet on HOW TO BOOK! Several of the sites I’ve read have said that some of the cast from the film will be at the Grand Opening, but this doesn’t seem to be confirmed yet!

Should I make it to the hotel, you dear readers, will be the first to know if it’s worth the trip!

    Best,

  5. cher AD:
There have been several articles in major papers about the new von Trapp hotel …apparently the locals are protesting the conversion of the home to a hotel, thinking it will cause unwelcome changes to the community, traffic congestion, etc…. the hills are alive with the sounds of disgruntled neighbors!

Apparently locals never saw the film, it was never released in German, and they don’t like the tourists already coming to see the home; parts of the the film were shot nearby, but not at the home, and locals are fearful this will increase tourism to their small town.

Other than that the grand opening is July 25, I can’t find any reservation info either…how grand can the opening be without guests!
    bon voyage
    la reine
